A tour that guides you through some of the most brutal Soviet monuments left standing. Feel the communist atmosphere all of these structures have.
Day 1
We start our tour with a walking tour around Sofia. We will see the most remarkable monuments from this period:
Overnight 3* hotel
Day 2
Depart to the North. We will make a stop to see the house of Todor Zhivkov. Then we will go to Lakatnik (short hiking). Continue to Vratsa where we will see the monument of Okolchitsa, build during the communist period.

Day 3
Depart to Veliko Tarnovo. Stop in Pleven to see the monument Panorama “The Epopee of Pleven -1877”, built in 1977 of the 100th anniversary of the liberation of Pleven. Continue to Tarnovo to see the monument Assenevsti, in honor of the last Bulgarian kings.

Day 4
Depart to Varna. On the way, we will make a stop in Shumen to see the monument is dedicated to 1300 Years of Bulgaria, also known as the Founders of the Bulgarian State. The biggest outdoor mosaic-triptych in Europe can be seen here. Together with 21 sculptures, they symbolize the establishment, development, and progress of the Bulgarian state in the period 7th – 10th centuries. Near Varna we will visit another massive monument called the Park-Monument of the Bulgarian-Soviet Friendship

Day 5
Departure to Stara Zagora region, where we will see the most unusual building in Bulgaria. Looking like a spaceship this is a Buzludzha monument – memorial house of the Bulgarian communist party.

Day 6
This day we will visit Dimitrovgrad. It is a newly founded settlement and was built at the end of the 1940s. The town takes its name from the communist leader Georgi Dimitrov. We will walk around the city and will see a lot of different communist monuments. Drive to Plovdiv, one of Europe’s oldest cities where we will see the Knoll of Fraternity Memorial Complex is the place where we’ll visit in the morning. Slabs of concrete create a symphony of 1974 geometry, layered atop one another to symbolize a Thracian hillock.

Day 7
On this day we will visit the newly opened communist museum near Plovdiv. Then we will continue to Sofia, passing by the most industrial town in Bulgaria through the socialist period.

Note! During your trip throughout Bulgaria, you will be able to photograph a lot of Soviet monuments & architecture that are not mentioned in the itinerary if the time and weather permits.
