Early, in the morning we depart to Karlovo to see the mummers in their dance. Since Thracian times the men have danced with masks to provide fertility and success for their village. You will learn more about the masks, dances and the pagan rituals. In the afternoon you will visit a wine cellar located nearby for a wine tasting. Afterward, you will head to the small town of Hissarya famous from the Roman times with its mineral water springs and the most preserved city walls in Bulgaria from IV century. On Sunday you can go back to Karlovo area to see mummers in real action or to make a short excursion to Plovdiv city, elected for European cultural capital 2019. Return to Sofia in the late afternoon.
